Richard F.
Manager

Richard has been working behind the scenes at Furry Friends since its conception. As many of our customers already know, he has been walking all types of different dogs for the company for well over a year. Rich has three pets of his own, his cats Kitty and Buffy, and the cutest little puppy in the world Chloe!
What a lot of our customers don't know however was that Richard had never had a pet of his own and in fact feared animals originally. One of Richard's first jobs was as a meter reader where he was chased my dogs, geese, and other various wildlife so he never got a true picture of what it's like to actually own an animal until Alysha brought home Kitty. However, within minutes of Kitty coming home Rich was in love with him. It didn't take long (or much prodding) before Buffy and Chloe came along. He quickly learned how to properly take care of both the dog and cats and found that he truly enjoyed it and that he actually had a way with animals he wasn't even aware of! Now, Richard has taken on a lot of our clients as well as some of our web design at Furry Friends. He's become very good at administering medication to cats Buffy developed asthma in 2008 that he must treat daily, and since being with the company he has learned to give insulin shots and has also learned some of the more advanced walking techniques used with many of our clients. Richard has a lot of interest in furthering his education in the dog training field and hopes to eventually offer dog training services through Furry Friends.

“I think that anyone who is a true animal lover will tell you that they have loved animals ever since they were small children, so that is how my story starts... I grew up caring for a large assortment of animals from dogs, hamsters, lizards, birds, turtles, and a rabbit....to pretty much anything that my parents would let my brother and I take in. Through out my teen years I started pet-sitting for friends when they took vacations. I can remember one greyhound named Shamba. She was so petrified of strangers that she would hide under the bed whenever I came by. I spent a lot of time laying on my side and speaking gently to her to coax her out. I finally found the key to get her trust me...Turkey!! We became fast friends after that discovery!
I am presently a parent to 3 cats: Brodie, Eli (affectionately known as Ewee), and Baby Sheeves. I have been volunteering with the North Smithfield Animal Shelter for the past 6 1/2 years to attain the personal satisfaction of making a difference that I was not receiving with my 9 to 5 job. I love volunteering there and with that experience I have worked with every type of animal personality that you can imagine. I am really excited to be working for Furry Friends with Alysha and the crew and I look forward to meeting your pets soon!” - Wendy

I’m looking forward to taking care of your pets! I have always had a passion for animals, and also for
sports. I graduated from Emerson College with a degree in broadcast journalism, and spent the summer of 2008 working in China at the Summer Olympics interviewing athletes in Track and Field. For over two years I have worked at the New England Aquarium in the Penguin Colony, caring for over 70 birds, while wearing a wet suit and climbing rocks. Working with penguins was amazing, and I knew that I had to keep working with animals after that exposure. Currently, I am an environmental educator for the AmeriCorps OSEEC program, stationed at the Norman Bird Sanctuary, where I teach the children who visit about local animals and the environment, and it’s something I absolutely love to do (especially when it involves the resident 3-legged rabbit!) When I’m not caring for animals at any of my jobs, I’m caring for my 3 corgis (Buffy, Bronco, Rory), Pomeranian Foxy, 20-year-old Sharpei-lab named Shawney, 2 rabbits named Gizmo and Grey, 2 cats named Sharkey and Maui, and my hedgehog Mojito at my house! My ultimate dream job would be to be a animal care provider by day, and a sports caster by night!
